Welcome to Greenhill Lodge Nursery. We are situated off the Birmingham Road in Sutton Coldfield and cater for all kids from birth to five years and facilitate kids with special needs. We have formed, together with our dedicated staff, a joyful, cheerful and secure environment in pleasant and hospitable situation.

We set up Introduction classes to advise you and your preschooler to grow to be comfortable with both the staff and nursery environment. Our priority is to ensure that you and your kid are happy, and will work with your needs as best we can. We get pleasure from working in close association with moms keeping them well educated about the nursery and their toddler’s progress. Regular workshops are organised to offer you with possibilities to get involved within the pre school and meet other parents.

We arrange frequent Parents group meetings which will provide you the chance to come into nursery and chat about your child’s improvement. You will additionally be able to read the observations and assessments that would have been carried out throughout their period at daycare. When your preschooler leaves nursery to go to school, you will be given a profile with samples of their work, observations and assessment records.

The protection of each kid is of paramount significance to us, which is why we regulate who is coming in and out of the nursery school at all times. All staff have been CRB checked and are either qualified or working towards their qualifications in childcare.

Our baby unit is designed for six babies at any one time. It has a separate sleeping area as well as a changing room. The staff present a variety of play experiences to proceed and care for each toddler. We have wisely selected a extensive assortment of stimulating toys and apparatus to entertain and stimulate your baby right through the day. We send home at the end of each day a diary that shows you what they have eaten, had to drink, how long they have slept and of course what they have been getting up to!

Here is where we have the 1 – 2 year olds. As this age group is becoming mobile, we have designed this room with fabulous soft play areas for them to carefully get around without getting up to mischief! We also have sleeping quarters and an eating / messy play area to keep them pleased. There is a independent changing room on hand. A diary of what they have been doing to is given daily for you to monitor what they have eaten, had to drink and how long they have slept.

We can cater up to twelve 2 – 3 year olds at any one time. This room is a fun and brightly decorated place where the children use stimulating apparatus to enrich their skills.
Kids enjoy and pick from a high-quality range of relevant resources and activities. They have the confidence and abilities to initiate their own play and do so with ease as they move around their play room selecting what they want to play with. Ofsted Report October 2009

Our nursery school unit is a large spacious plan room which can take up to 16 3 – 5 year olds. Staff provide a range of activities, play possibilities and equipment to offer the children the right start for mainstream school. We have a classroom like theme, catering for the six areas of education, such as a science area, I.T area, library area, art and craft area and a home corner providing interesting opportunities for children to discover.

We Need More Heroes

When I was a boy we had heroes.  I think today there is a lack of heroes.

To me, a hero is someone that sets a good example, meets challenges face on, and always fights for the right.  He or she is a person of honor and a believer of and fighter for truth.

In the days of my youth we always celebrated the birthdays of George Washington (see picture of George Washington) and Abraham Lincoln.  As we celebrated their birthdays we also studied their lives.  They were man of honor, who stood for truth and freedom despite tremendous odds.  They were heroes.  Now they are not celebrated very much andthat they are becoming more forgotten with each passing year.

Willie Mays, the great San Francisco Giants out fielder, was one of my heroes.  There were many others in the baseball and other sports in those olden days.  Though there may have been scandals among them, I don’t remember.  Today we hear of scandals among sports players on a regular basis.

I remember learning about Davy Crockett, king of the wild frontier,  and the Swamp Fox by watching the Walt Disney hour on Sunday evenings.  They were true heroes.  I can still picture Davy Crockett fighting at the Alamo and the Swamp Fox outwitting the British to help win out war for independence.

Our children need to have heroes that they can look up to.  Mom and Dad, do you know who your children’s heroes are?  Talk with your children about it, and help them find true heroes.  And don’t forget that parents can and should be among the heroes that children look up to?

There are a lot of times when most children are subjected to images on the internet on accident. However, these children may still become fascinated with it. This can create a lot of problems for children that end up looking at it all of the time.

Parents should always speak to their children about how they can avoid negative sites and they should also discuss some of the negative things that can happen if they are looking at those sites.

It is highly recommended that you place the computer in an area that is frequented by both parents as well as other family members. This will help the parents keep an eye on the contents of the web page that is seen by the child.

Take extra steps by installing software that will block certain sites from popping up. They can also help you monitor what your child was looking at.

This software will not let certain pages open if they are not appropriate for your child or they have pornographic material on them. Innocent search terms which the child uses, will also be monitored so that it does not lead to harmful pornographic sites opening.

You will definitely feel much safer if you install something like this on your computer because you know your child will be safe. I would recommend this porn blocker software.
